Hi, I’m Noor. 👋
Who I Am
My name is Noor. I am a humanitarian and child rights practitioner with over a decade of experience across South Asia, working on early childhood development, child protection, education in emergencies, youth engagement, Ending Violence against Children (EVAC), gender equality, climate change, and WASH through a faith-informed lens.
I currently serve as Regional Coordinator for South Asia at JLI, where I work with faith-based organisations, religious leaders, civil society, youth networks, and UN partners to advance evidence-driven, community-led solutions.
Why I’m Walking (20 Miles in Islamabad)
This April 3-4, I will walk 20 miles in Islamabad to raise awareness on hunger, poverty, injustice, and early child marriage.
This is not symbolic, it is intentional.
Too often, advocacy remains confined to meetings and reports. This walk is about making it visible, collective, and grounded in solidarity with children and communities whose rights continue to be overlooked.
Through my work leading the Faith and Positive Change for Children, Families, and Communities (FPCC) initiative, I have seen the power of faith actors in shaping norms, influencing behaviors, and driving change. But this potential remains underutilized.
Child Marriage:
Every year, millions of girls are married before they turn 18 many losing their childhood, education, and future before they have a chance to choose it. In Pakistan, nearly 1 in 5 girls is married before the age of 18 each one a childhood cut short, often in silence.
I am walking to:
- Strengthen interfaith collaboration beyond transactional partnerships
- Advance faith-sensitive approaches to child rights and protection
- Promote evidence-based engagement on immunization, gender justice, and violence prevention
- Elevate the role of faith in climate action and community resilience
- Contribute to inner transformation and leadership through the Inner Development Goals (IDGs)
This Month’s Focus
Aligned with global momentum around justice and gender equality including the Commission on the Status of Women this walk highlights the urgent need to center women and girls in development and faith engagement spaces.
